QUIET YOUR INNER CRITIC

A Self-Trust Mini-Course for Women in Medicine

Learn how to quiet your inner critic, rebuild self-trust, and make decisions from calm inner leadership.

You’re accomplished, capable, and highly trained, but your inner critic didn’t get the memo.

If you’re a woman in medicine, you know this cycle…

  • You replay conversations, worrying you missed something important.

  • You hesitate to speak up unless you're absolutely certain.

  • You over-prepare, overwork, or overthink instead of trusting yourself.

  • You carry guilt for wanting rest, boundaries, or ease.

  • You worry that any day now, someone will figure out you don’t belong.

You’ve tried being more organized, more efficient, more “positive.”
But no amount of color-coding or productivity hacks touches the underlying self-doubt.

Here’s the truth:
You’re not the problem.
The way you’ve been trained to think about yourself in a broken system is.

This mini-course is your reset button to interrupt those patterns and begin building self-trust from the inside out.

Imagine if you could…

  • Notice self-doubt as a pattern, instead of believing it’s proof that you’re inadequate.

  • You can pause the inner critic instead of being run by it.

  • Interrupt the spiral before it hijacks your evening or weekend.

  • Make decisions from calm inner leadership rather than fear of criticism.

  • Feel more grounded, even when the system around you doesn’t change.

  • Move through work without carrying the day home with you.

This isn’t about forcing confidence.
It’s about reconnecting to yourself in a way that feels calm, grounded, and deeply truthful.

That’s what Quiet Your Inner Critic is designed to help you start doing — in three focused lessons.

What You Get Inside

You’ll get immediate access to three concise video lessons, handouts with summaries, prompts, and tools, and a Student Roadmap; all designed to fit into the demanding rhythms of clinical practice.

Lesson 1: The Cycle of Self-Doubt

Theme: Awareness & Understanding

In this lesson, you’ll see clearly what has been quietly running beneath your competence.

Self-doubt is not a flaw. It is a protective pattern your brain learned in high-pressure environments. And once you understand it, you stop taking it personally.

You’ll learn:

What confidence truly is (self-trust, not certainty)

Why your brain defaults to self-doubt, especially when the stakes feel high

The Self-Doubt Cycle that keeps capable women overworking, overthinking, or shrinking

How your default response (fight, flight, freeze, or fawn) is trying to keep you safe

You’ll identify your primary pattern using the Pattern Recognition Map and begin responding with steadiness instead of self-criticism.

This is where you stop managing doubt and start building self-trust.

Lesson 2: Quieting Your Inner Critic

Theme: Acceptance

In this lesson, you’ll stop fighting with your inner critic and start changing your relationship to it.

You’ll learn:

Why arguing with your inner critic often strengthens it

How to work with your nervous system instead of overriding it

Simple, evidence-informed practices to lower intensity in the moment

How to speak to yourself with the steadiness and respect you offer your patients and trainees

This is where self-judgment softens, and self-leadership begins.

Lesson 3: Leading Beyond the Hustle

Theme: Action & Identity

This is where everything comes together.

In this lesson, you’ll stop taking action from pressure and start leading yourself from the inside out.

You’ll learn:

The difference between hustle-driven action and values-aligned action.

How to identify your current season (growth, release, rest, or renewal)

Why small, identity-based actions build real confidence

How to choose one aligned step that strengthens self-trust instead of draining it

You’ll begin practicing taking action that reflects the woman you are becoming, not the fear that once drove you.

This is where self-trust becomes embodied.

Final Integration: Your Confidence Journey Forward

This course begins with awareness and ends with integration.

In this closing section, you’ll:

Anchor your quick wins into daily life

Choose one ongoing practice that builds sustainable self-trust

Clarify your next level of support, whether that’s continuing on your own, seeking community, or exploring deeper coaching

If you feel called to go further, you’ll also learn when it may be time for more personalized support, like my RECLAIM Your Life program.

Because self-trust isn’t a one-time insight.
It’s a way of leading yourself.

I’m a hematologist, Professor at Emory University, and a certified coach for women in medicine.

For over 20 years, I did what many of us do: collected degrees, climbed the academic ladder, took on leadership roles, and tried to prove my worth through achievement. From the outside, it looked like success. On the inside, it felt like walking a tightrope; one mistake away from it all crashing down.

When my work spread into every corner of my life, I realized the cost of living in constant self-doubt and over-responsibility. Recognizing my own burnout, I received coaching and began studying nervous system science, mindset, and self-leadership. I applied those tools to my own life and realized I had been making life more difficult than it needed to be.

Now, through Christine Kempton Coaching and my RECLAIM framework, I help women in medicine interrupt the burnout cycle, rebuild self-trust, and lead from the inside out.

This mini-course condenses some of the most accessible, high-impact tools I teach my private clients — so you can start shifting your relationship with self-doubt right away.

FAQs

“I’m already overwhelmed. How much time will this actually take?”

The mini-course is intentionally short and digestible, with three lesson videos totaling about 60 minutes and handouts after each video to help you integrate and take action. Although it is recommended to do one per week over three weeks, you can set the pace: do one lesson per evening, one per weekend, or binge them in one sitting.

“Is this just for physicians?”

The examples are drawn mainly from my experience and my work with women physicians and clinicians, but the tools are relevant to women across healthcare (APPs, PhD scientists, pharmacists, psychologists, etc.). If you resonate with the patterns described, you’re welcome.

“Is this therapy?”

No. This is an educational and coaching-informed mini-course. It’s not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical care, or crisis support. If you’re in significant distress, please reach out to your physician, therapist, or local emergency resources.

“What professions can receive CEs?”

This activity offers 2.5 CE credits for: Physicians (AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM), Nurses (ANCC NCPD), Pharmacists (ACPE CPE), Physician Assistants (AAPA Category 1), Social Workers (ASWB- ACE), Psychologists (APA CME), Dietitians (CDR CPEUs), Dentists (ADA-CERP CME) and Athletic Trainers (BOC CEUs).
