Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is a structured, future-focused partnership that helps you clarify what you want, see patterns that keep you stuck, and practice new ways of thinking and acting. You bring the goals and the real-life situations. I bring questions, frameworks, and tools that help you create change you can sustain. Currently, information is ready at our fingertips. Yet, despite having information, change can be difficult. Information alone rarely brings about transformation.

How is coaching different from therapy or mentoring?

Therapy often focuses on healing past wounds and diagnosing conditions. Mentoring offers advice from someone who has done what you want to do. Coaching is collaborative and action-oriented. We focus on your goals, your values, and the skills that move you forward. I do not diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions in coaching.

Who is your coaching for?

High-achieving women in medicine who want to feel grounded and effective without sacrificing themselves. If you are navigating burnout, over-functioning, perfectionism, or impostor thoughts, and you want a values-aligned, research-informed approach, you are in the right place.

What results can I expect?

Common outcomes include clearer boundaries, calmer decision-making, less second-guessing, and more energy for what matters most. Results vary based on your goals and participation. My role is to give you tools and support so change becomes doable in the middle of a busy clinical or academic life.

How much time outside of coaching does it take?

Plan for the scheduled sessions during the 4 months, plus 15–30 minutes a few days each week to watch a video, do a reflection, or practice skills. Between-session support is available for quick check-ins, so you can maintain momentum without adding another big task to your plate.

How is group coaching different from 1:1?

Coaching 1:1 is fully customized, private, and paced around your schedule and goals. Group coaching adds community, peer learning, and normalized experiences across roles and specialties. Both are guided and skills-based. Choose 1:1 if you want depth and privacy. Choose group coaching if you want support and shared learning alongside focused coaching.

Can I ask my company to pay for coaching?

Yes. Many institutions fund leadership development, well-being, or professional development. Some use CME or departmental funds. Policies vary, so ask your department chair, HR, or GME office. I can provide an invoice and program overview that maps to leadership, communication, and well-being competencies.

Do you take HSA/FSA or offer receipts for reimbursement?

Some clients use HSA/FSA or employer funds when coaching is part of a documented well-being or professional development plan. Eligibility depends on your plan. I provide detailed receipts; you confirm eligibility with your administrator.

How do sessions happen, and what if I need to reschedule?

Sessions are held virtually so you can join work or home. If you need to change a time, this can be done through the client portal; just let me know as early as possible. We will review the reschedule policy in the agreement so expectations are clear and simple.

What if I am not sure I am “burned out enough”?

You do not need a label to deserve support. If you want calmer, clearer boundaries and a sustainable way to lead and live, coaching is appropriate.

What happens after the 4-month program?

Many clients continue with additional 1:1 support or join group offerings when available. We will discuss the best next step based on your goals and progress
